The American Association for Long Term Care Nursing (AALTCN) is the only association that unites and serves all levels of LTC nursing staff: nursing administrators, LPNs, CNAs, MDS coordinators, GNPs, staff development educators, and more. AALTCN addresses common issues and educational needs, using methodologies appropriate for different educational levels and scope of practice. By shining a light on the important, unique, and complementary contributions of each member of the nursing team, a sense of community is promoted that fosters a caring culture.
AALTCN is unique in its promotion of the specialty of LTC nursing. AALTCN’s focus on education, creation of community, and advocacy for all members of the nursing department fosters improvements in recruitment, retention, and self-image of nursing staff. While recognizing individual differences in scope of practice and lines of authority, AALTCN promotes respect and unity among the nursing team. To help LTC nursing reach new levels, AALTCN defines and advances core competencies and unique practice guidelines. AALTCN understands the importance of continued education and the link it has on the uniqueness of care. AALTCN provides more education than any other professional nursing organization in long term care.
