Yellow non-skid socks on a high fall risk patients/residents will alert staff members to the need for extra care while working with him or her.
Purpose of yellow non-skid socks:
Provide non-skid footwear to the fall risk patient/resident (i.e., socks without treads can easily cause a fall on slick floors.
Serves as a visual reminder to staff of patient's/resident's fall risk status.
Helps staff to quickly and easily identify any fall risk patient/resident.
How to use yellow non-skid socks:
Socks worn in bed prevent feet from sliding away during bed exit transfers. Also beneficial for patients/residents with nocturia/frequent trips to bathroom. Socks provide maximum safety is the case of urine loss/wet flooring.
